Mining sparkled at the World Scout Jamboree (WSJ) held in Japan this summer. Those who attended the SME 2014 annual awards banquet in Salt Lake City, UT will recall the launch of the Mining in Society merit badge by the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) and the first 49 Scouts who were awarded the new badge to a standing ovation and Scout cheers. But BSA topped the 2014 launch when it selected Mining in Society as its science exhibit for the 2015 WSJ. Being a long-time miner Scout, I was tasked with its implementation.
