The Mine to Mill team from the Julius Kruttschnitt Mineral Research Center (JKMRC) won the Australasian Institute of Mining and Mineral's (AusIMM) Mineral Industry Operating Technique Award. The prize was awarded at an AusIMM event held in Brisbane in August 2002. AusIMM president Ian Goddard presented the award to the Mine to Mill project team of Don McKee, Steve Morrell, Andrew Scott, Walter Valery and Sarma Kanchibotla. The award recognized the successful implementation of the mine to mill integration technique. This technique increased the productivity and cost effectiveness of openpit mining and comminution operations.
