Each chapter begins with a review of important facts about the chapter's subject. Next, the author provides a group of problems related to the subject. The solutions to those problems are then supplied. The book's beginning chapter discusses basic engineering concepts and planning. The second chapter deals with mine preplanning. It includes discussions of ore reserve estimation and scheduling. The following chapters discuss ventilation, ground control, pumping, power, hoisting, rail and belt haulage, rubber-tired haulage and surface extraction.
