Global mining giant BHP Billiton upgraded the size of its total ore resource at the giant Australian Olympic Dam uranium, copper and gold mine by 75 percent to 7.7 Gt (8.5 billion st). After recent drilling to further define the size of the Olympic Dam orebody, BHP nearly doubled the size of the measured resource to 1.3 Gt (1.4 billion st) from 680 Mt (750 million st) a year ago. However, the proven and probable ore rose only 7 percent to 400 Mt (440 million st).
