US steelmakers could be receiving some relief from imported steel material after President Bush called for an investigation into alleged dumping by foreign steel companies.Bush has directed the US Trade Representative to ask the International Trade Commission (ITC) to investigate whether steel imports are hurting the domestic industry. The president also asked his senior administration officials to begin negotiating with major trading partners about reducing steel production and elimination subsidies worldwide.
