Placer Dome and NovaGold Resources announced that measured and indicated gold resources at their Donlin Creek project in Alaska have increased by 33 percent. The partners in the joint venture said gold estimates now stand at 460 t (14.8 million oz). Gold contained within additional inferred resources is about 444.7 t (14.3 million oz). Those resources, though, were calculated with a larger, but lower grade tonnage. The updated resource estimates were based on three-dimensional modeling integrating 221,838 m (727,815 ft) of drilling and using a cutoff grade of 1.2 g/t (0.035 oz/st) gold.
