At its annual meeting in Denver, CO in February, SME installed its 2009 president, board of directors and members of the Society's six strategic committees. Following a vote of the membership, William H. Wilkinson was installed as 2009 president. Nikhil C. Trivedi is president-elect. Last year, SME completed the second year of its new governance structure. That included a smaller board of directors and six strategic committees. The smaller board will allow the Society to move faster in instituting programs and reacting to members needs as the global mining industry continues to evolve. The following directors are in office: Jessica Elzea Kogel, 2010. John G. Mansanti, 2010. K, Marc LeVier, 2011. John N. Murphy, 2011. Bill A. Hancock, 2012. Robert W. Schafer, 2012. George W. Luxbacher, past president, 2010.
