The Pennsylvania State University's mining engineering program is known and respected around the world, especially for its expertise in all phases of coal mining. To help continue this achievement, the SME Pittsburgh Section has pursued education, outreach and professional development activities with the Penn State SME student chapter. During the 2009 spring semester, section members visited Penn State's main campus on three occasions to share their knowledge, skills and experiences with the mining engineering students.
