On Friday, Feb. 17,21 volunteers representing SME spent the afternoon working at Food Lifeline of Seattle as part of SME's Third Annual Miners Give Back campaign. The group of volunteers included three former SME presidents, Nikhil Trivedi, 2010; George Luxbacher, 2008 and Art Schweizer, 2004. The volunteers spent about four hours repacking food that had been donated to Food Lifeline of Seattle, a nonprofit organization dedicated to ending hunger in western Washington. Food Lifeline makes every penny count. Ninety-four percent of the food received is donated from local, state and national contributors.
