It was another successful year of NSTA regional conferences. Free literature, rocks, minerals, videotapes and other valuable earth-science educational materials were distributed to more than 4,000 teachers at the 2006 National Science Teachers Association (NSTA) regional conferences. Teachers often stood in line to gather their mineral kits, complimentary materials and Common Ground from the SME Minerals Education Coalition booth. Common Ground, a CD/DVD produced by Caterpillar and the GEM Committee, is about the responsible stewardship of the environment and the importance of the earth's minerals in our everyday lives. And they received minerals information, along with rock and mineral samples, from the professionals who manned the booths. Feedback from the teachers was overwhelmingly positive.
