In May Nottinghamshire CC issued permission subject to 59 conditions for extraction of sand and gravel at Finningley Quarry near Doncaster with restoration to agriculture, lakes and land for nature conservation interest. The proposal, by Lafarge Aggregates Ltd, had been granted in December 2003 subject to the prior completion of a S106 agreement The application site straddled the boundary between Nottinghamshire and the Metropolitan Borough of Doncaster. The main issues related to visual impact, hydrology, hydrogeology and ecology. An Environmental Statement accompanied the applications.
