Awareness is growing of the potential vulnerability of technology due to its reliance on critical elements.This has led to numerous reports and lists of critical materials.This includes 14 elements that are deemed economically important to the EU and at risk of supply disruption. Public perception often focuses on the element's physical exhaustion, a concern widely dismissed by those working in the field. But it is more likely that the energy supply needed to extract these elements will take its toll sooner than physical exhaustion.
