Although, I think we have to thank the National Trust and other worthy organisations, rather than the main stream planning bodies for the majority of the media coverage surrounding the draft NPPF, the latter did put in many hours of hard work in airless rooms around Westminster with government and industry to put their views forward. It would be churlish not to give credit to their efforts which have helped shape the final product. There is a lot to be said for having a relatively short focused document covering the whole range of planning policy that is clear, readable and balanced. The following is not an exhaustive examination of the NPPF but are some comments on how it addresses mineral planning. To this end it should be noted that it is not just the section on minerals that is relevant.
