Adani Mining Private Ltd's proposed coal mining project at Lohara, at the outskirts of Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve (TATR), faced yet another setback when the minister of state for coal Shriprakash Jaiswal stated that the ministry could abandon such leases in eco-sensitive areas, wildlife areas, around sanctuaries and national parks. Moreover, Jaiswal has assured not to undertake such proposals in future. 'We hope that the ministry will cancel the lease allotted to Adani Power Limited at Lohara,' according to an official with Satpuda Foundation, an NGO working for wildlife and tiger conservation in central India.
