A new method for studying the ability of sod mid-podzolic soil to attenuate the gamma -radiation of an artificial radiation source is described, along with the corresponding results. The dependence of the radiation intensity on the thickness of the soil layer between the source and detector was studied; a regression equation that describes this dependence was obtained and the linear attenuation factor was calculated.Digital Object Identifier http://dx.doi.org/10.3103/S0147687410030051
