摘要

The water extract is the most popular method of investigating the content and composition of salts in saline soils; it provides information on the content of cations and anions that can be extracted by a water solution. The results of this analysis cannot be interpreted in terms of the mineralogical composition, namely, which minerals of easily soluble salts can exist in the soil as combinations of cations and anions determined in the water extract. Kovda formulated the general rules regulating theprecipitation of soluble salts minerals from solutions in soils of arid areas in the following way: with increasing concentration of solution in the course of evaporation its saturation is going on consecutively in the following sequence: Ca and Mg carbonates and bicarbonates--Ca sulfates--Mg sulfates--Ca, Mg, and Na chlorides.
