The paper presents experimental wind tunnel investigations in order to demonstrate the influ-ence of the stand density on the flow characteristics at the canopy top near forest edges. Thedensity of homogeneous forest stands was varied three times by removing whole rows of theoriginally dense model forest. In addition, staggered forest configurations were studied, consist-ing of sparse and dense forest areas of varied length.
