Potential natural temperature is defined by the air temperature which is estimated when the landcover is assumed as the potential natural vegetation. The urban heat island phenomenon shoulddefine conceptually as the difference between the present and the potential natural air tempera-ture. .In this study, MM5 was used as the calculation software of the present and potential natu-ral air temperature at 2m high. In the calculation, the mother domain area is set 360 km x 360km with 3 km resolution and nested domain is 103 kmx 103 km with 1 km resolution. Accordingto the results of present case, the sea breeze gets heat from urban area, and the wind speed isweak at inland. The effective urban temperature (EUT) is defined by the temperature differencebetween present and potential natural temperature. Some examples are discussed.
