摘要

Spatial distribution of the annual mean UHI intensity was simulated applying empirical modelsbased on datasets from urban areas of Szeged and Debrecen, using simple and easily determin-able urban surface cover variables. These two cities are situated on the Great Hungarian Plainhaving similar topographic and climatic conditions. Temperature field measurements were car-ried out, Landsat satellite images were evaluated, then a multiple variable model was con-structed using linear regression techniques. The multiple-parameter model was verified usingindependent datasets. The model was extended to urban areas of other cities situated in geo-graphical environments similar to Szeged and Debrecen.
