Surgery has traditionally been the primary treatment for patients with localized esophageal cancer; however, the high risk of distant failure has led to an interest in treating this disease with a combination of surgery and chemotherapy.To compare a treatment regimen comprising chemotherapy and surgery with surgery alone in patients with localized esophageal cancer.
