Fish otoliths are described from the middle Eocene (Lutetian) from Osteroden near Bramsche, north-western Germany. A total of 82 species are described, 19 as newly established and 14 in open nomenclature. This is the first record of Eocene otoliths from northern Germany and located at some distance to the north and east from the well-known Eocene otolith assemblages of Belgium, the Hampshire Basin, the Paris Basin and the Aquitaine Basin. The depositional environment is supposed to have been deeper and cooler than in the shallow warm seas of Belgium, which is the closest and richest finding of Eocene otoliths. This is reflected by an unusual high number of gadiform species (for Eocene NW European deposits) and the abundance of certain open marine species (Bregmaceros felkeri n. sp. and Champsodon vanderhochti n. sp.). The new taxa described are: Notacanthus nolfi n. sp., Muraenesox furcatus n. sp., Chlorophthalmus deflecticauda n. sp., genus Gadidarum amsianus n. sp., Bregmaceros felkeri n. sp., Encheliophis crassidorsalis n. sp., genus Ophidiidarum compactus n. sp., Gadophycis bramscheensis n. sp., genus Bythitidarum moelleri n. sp., genus Macrorhamphosidarum testuliformis n. sp., genus Hemirhamphidarum accisus n. sp., Scorpaena osterodenensis n. sp., genus Scorpaenidarum menzeli n. sp., genus Triglidarum praeiatus n. sp., genus Emmelichthyidarum steurbauti n. sp., genus Ammodytidarum inconspectus n. sp., Champsodon vanderhochti n. sp., genus Odontobutidarum triangularis n. sp. and Bothus nativus n. sp.
