Researchers at the University of Minnesota, USA have developed a simple device that can quantify tactile sensation deficit, a common symptom of peripheral neuropathy. The 'Bumps' device has the potential for early detection and staging of neuropathy and it might also be used to monitor disease progression. "Molecular-based research has begun to give us products that may cause regression of neuropathy," explains lead investigator William Kennedy, "and we are attempting to objectively measure their effects."
