Prices for metallurgical coke have been growing again in China since mid-January in Shanxi province.In particular, prices for the material in the region moved up from $245-250/t exw (hereinafter incl. VAT) early in January to $260-265/t exw at the end of the month. In December, coke was offered in Shanxi at $230-235/t exw. The prices are growing both on strongerdemand for the material ahead of Chinese New Year and on higher prices for coking coal. However, in Shanghai province,quotations of the material had been unchanged throughout the past month - $290-295/t exw ($255/t in December) after a price surgein early January.
