A drop in scrap and billet prices, having immediately affected quotations of finished products in most world markets, has also undermined position of Greek longs producers, especially given still extremely weak demand for construction steel. At the same time while in the domestic market suppliers still manage to keep prices stable at least for small lots somehow, they are almost unable to prevent export longs offers from falling.

7. Commodity prices have risen sharply since 2006. This may benefit developing countries specialized on primary exports, but poverty may increase. Uruguay is a net exporter of primary products and a net importer of oil.
