The nightmare in the Gulf is worse than anything first imagined and it's going to persist through the summer and beyond As Black & Veatch Chief Executive Len Rodman told the Reuters Global Energy Summit in Houston, the disaster could well change the course of energy use in the US-a la Three Mile Island. And Rodman was speaking in late May before BP threw in the towel on capping the well (see plO). By the time the well is fully contained-hopefully by a relief well that won't be ready until late July or early August - the mounting environmental damage could well ignite an apocalyptic rage in the halls of Congress and throw the energy industry into turmoil.
