IPM (Integrated Pest Management) is a technology which selects the best methods of pest control for a crop from the full range of techniques available, while minimising the use of agrichemicals. It may include biological control of specific pests. Ifso, the sprays used in the crop must not be hazardous to the natural enemies. The first IPM programme to be developed for NZ was the control of spider mites in pipfuit using predators tolerant to certain agrichemicals.
