The Craftsman (Sennett, 2008) has attracted a degree of attention and approval unusual for a sociological work. In this book Sennett talks at some length about nurses (and doctors) and it is thus surprising that his work has not attracted more attention in health care education. We will show how Sennett shares many of our central concerns as educators, but also how he offers potential educational approaches which address those concerns.
