With a maximum length roughly equal to three football fields and a weight in excess of 100,000 tonnes, LNG carriers are behemoths. It stands to reason that when they go in for scheduled maintenance, the job is an immense undertaking. In its largest coordinated project to date, Atlas Copco Gas and Process Aftermarket Services is playing a key role in the extensive overhaul of a fleet of Qatari Q-Flex LNG carriers, helping ensure the tankers remain active on the high seas and deliver their naturalgas cargo to markets.
