BEIJING Retail sales in China rose at a 12.2 percent pace in April - fast by most standards but slow for China - as grain prices fell and increases in home purchase costs diverted spending.Sales totaled 466.3 billion yuan, or 56.3 billion dollar, according to the Beijing-based Mainland Marketing Research (China), which releases figures on behalf of the statistics bureau. The increase was the smallest since March 2004, excluding the distortion in January's data caused by the timing of the Lunar New Year holiday.
