Rusal, one of the world's top three aluminum producers, has increased its investment program for the period 2004-2013 to in excess of 16 billion dollars. Rusal originally anticipated that the program would cost 8 billion-10 billion dollars, Pavel Ulyanov, the company's deputy general director for corporate development strategy, told reporters on September 21. The program calls for investing 4.6 billion dollars in bauxite and alumina assets, S6.2 billion in smelting, 5.2 billion dollars in energy and more than 500 million dollars in the environment, Ulyanov said.
