The dependence of drought resistance and yield of spring wheat varieties on the number of live leaves and their survival to the heading stage under steppe conditions in the Orenburg cis-Ural region has been established. Soft and hard wheat varieties promising for breeding for high drought resistance and leaf survival traits have been revealed.
