We consider a phenomenon of fluctuations of the catastrophic variation in the compound lifting surface shape. We propose a geometrically nonlinear dynamic calculation scheme. To solve a dynamic problem, we use the Newmark method. In compound lifting and controlling surfaces, for example, empennage with a control surface there can appear fluctuations of the catastrophic shape variation during control surface deflection. This fact was confirmed experimentally during wind tunnel tests of the empennage model. The more is the ratio of frontal and normal rigidities of the control surface, the more probable is the appearance of such fluctuations. To study this phenomenon, it is necessary to construct a geometrically nonlinear dynamic model since the nature of loading is considerably determined by frontal (that is, lying in the control surface plane) responses depending on structure displacements.
