Advective mass, heat, and salt exchange between the Arctic and the North Atlantic is calculated from the balanced fields of currents, temperature and salinity obtained from a general ocean circulation model using a climatic data base on temperature and salinity. The calculations were performed for three sections, Sandinavia-Spitsbergen (16 deg E), Spitsbergen-Greenland (78 deg N), and Newfoundland-Greenland (53 deg W). Climatic norms of advective mass, heat, and salt exchange are obtained. Seasonal climatic variability of the norms is described. A considerable inflow of the Atlantic water into the East Greenland Current is shown to form thermohaline characteristics of the deep branch of the oceanic conveyor.
