During field studies in the Russian part of the Black Sea aquatic area in 2002-2004,data were obtained on the spatiotemporal features of the total contents of some heavy metals,Al,and As in marine aerosols. It was shown that the degrees of spatial variation of the element contents formed the following series:Cr,Mn,Ni > Fe,Cu,Pb > Al,Zn,As,Cd.The content of the elements was pronouncedly height-dependent,with different locations of maxima from 7 to 50 m.The geographic zoning of the element contents in marine aerosols was represented by the decrease in the contents along the Gelendzhik-Adler section and by the dependences with a peak at a 100-mile distance from the shore. The data obtained point to the existence of several mechanisms for marine aerosol generation from the surface microlayer.
