摘要

The data of the sections of the hydrophysical World Ocean Circulation Experiment (WOCE) and climatic hydrophysical data are used to study the propagation and properties of the Intermediate Antarctic Water (AAIW),Subantarctic Mode Water (SAAMW),and some other intermediate waters in the Pacific sector of the Southern Ocean.A new original method is used to determine the position of the boundaries between the water masses. The mean values of the water mass characteristics and the ranges of their variability are calculated. The regions of the formation and pathways of the water masses' propagation are determined. The North Subantarctic Front, which limits the SAAMW from the north at the ocean surface,is distinguished for the first time.An original concept is formulated about the physical nature of the well-known effect of the AAIW transformation [12,14] in the southeastern part of the Pacific Ocean.
