摘要

Femtosecond UV pulses at the fourth harmonic of Nd:glass laser radiation (λ=264 nm) were used to generate nonlinear absorption measurement in three types of commercial fused silica and one crystalline quartz sample. The two-photon absorption (TPA) coefficient values for fused silica depend on the type and vary between 1.5±0.1×10~(-11) and 2.3±0.2×10~(-11) cm W~(-1). For crystalline quartz a noticeably smaller value of 9.1±0.9×10~(-12) cm W~(-1) was obtained. All TPA coefficient values have been determined with much higher accuracy than before.
