A new HortResearch proj ect aims to develop a particularly special and luscious apricot to fill a six-week gap in the European and Australian markets potentially worth 15 million dollar a year. This is one of eight HortResearch research projects the Foundation for Research, Science and Technology has approved in its main 2008 Investment Round. Other projects include research on berries, gastronomies, in-line packhouse technologies such as NIR, sensor labels, insect and disease control and dwarfing. Combined, the projects will receive more than 9 dollar M per year.
