"Integrity" and "commitment" are words used repeatedly when people talk about Brian Earp. His family and friends and many in the kiwifruit industry are still coming to terms with Brian's tragic death in a quad bike accident last November. He was aged56. As one of four co-founders of Apata Ltd, Western Bay of Plenty, he chaired the company for its first 17 years. What began as one coolstore on a rather unlikely piece of bare land is now the fifth largest postharvest operation in the New Zealand kiwifruit industry and the largest handler of avocados.
