Rather than continue moving foward with its 1997 proposed rule on tuberculosis,OHSA plans to extend the general industry standardon respiratory protection to workers exposed to TB,the agency announced in the Dec.31,2003,Federal Register.In withdrawing the proposed rule,OSHA cited a 40 pecent decrease in the number of TB cases in the United Stat es in the past 10 years.
