The federal Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has proposed a series of changes to its rules for recall notices issued for dangerous consumer products on the US market. Under the terms of the 1972 Consumer Product Safety Act (CPSA) the CPSC arrange such recalls with the manufacturer or distributor. This may also include a corrective action plan (CAP) in which the company agree to undertake a series of steps to improve their procedures; among the more salient improvements suggested is to make these legally enforceable.
