When the first safety congress met at the Pfister Hotel in Milwaukee in 1912, the attendee program depicted a speeding luxury liner on its cover. While a cruise ship may seem unrelated to occupational safety, it reflected current events of the time. The sinking of the Titanic, after all, was still fresh in the public's mind.
