摘要

Phenolic resins are very effective resin components that possess high mechanical strength, moisture and heat resistance, Tg's above 200 degrees C and exhibit exceptional FST characteristics. On a cost performance consideration, they are relatively inexpensive and cost effective in the development of light weight composite structures. Newly developed environmentally friendly resole resins are described and their utility in many woven impregnated materials for various applications such as honeycomb, ballistics, aircraft interior paneling and cargo liners as well as long fiber fabricated components by filament winding or pultrusion. Various processes such as prepreg, honeycomb, filament winding, pultrusion, and RTM are mentioned along with the type(s) of fabric, resin content, cure conditions, and final use. Global trends and future outlook for phenolic resins in these fiber reinforced systems will be discussed.
