For the best part of the last five years, the cable industry has been pinning its hopes on the Holy Trimly of packaged internet, voice and TV services. One of the great things about the triple-play is that it is attractive to end users and to operators alike: end users have the very thing that they want in one integrated and hopefully easy to manage bundle of services; whilst the latter has an integrated package of services to sell and manage. Operators, most recently UK MSOs NTL and Telewest, are now at the early stages of offering true on-demand services to European consumers.
