摘要

Between 2000 and 2005 a major initiative took place to conserve and restore a number of core areas of woodland in Scotland. The Core Forest Sites LIFE project was a nationwide initiative co-funded by the EU LIFE-Nature Programme and the Caledonian Partnership. The project targeted three native woodland types - Atlantic Oakwoods, Alder Floodplain Woods and Mixed Gorge Woodland. It aimed to achieve the 'favourable condition status of twelve core sites of native woodlands across the country, forming centres of biodiversity, good woodland management practice, and contributing to the development of the Forest Habitat Network in Scotland. The Clyde Valley Woodlands (CVW) LIFE Project formed one of the 12 core sites of this national project.
