With its proximity to Washington, D.C., Philadelphia was a fitting venue for the American Seed Trade Association (ASTA) annual convention held June 26-30 in conjunction this year with the annual convention of the Association of Official Seed Certifying Agencies. Government officials, including Secretary of Agriculture Ann Veneman and Acting FDA Commissioner Lester Crawford, did not have to travel far to speak to and take questions from some 650 constituents from the seed and allied industries.
