Bionic laminated ZrB_2-SiC/BN ceramic was prepared by tape casting and hot pressing, and its mechanical properties and micro-structure were investigated in detail. This laminated ZrB_2-SiC/BN ceramic has notably higher toughness and thermal shock resistance than ZrB_2-SiC ceramics. The results indicate a promising method for improving the fracture toughness and thermal shock resistance of ZrB_2-based ceramics.
