Fathoms Ltd. (Somerset, England) has completed a radioactive particle recovery program at Dounreay, off the northern coast of Scotland.In 2007, Thurso, Scotland-based Dounreay Site Restoration Ltd. (DSRL) commissioned a special trial, asking potential suppliers to come up with a remote-controlled system that would detect and recover radioactive particles from the seabed. Fathoms said it adapted its tracked seabed crawler, Tracked Robotic Offshore Logger? (TROL), and succeeded in detecting radioactive particles and recovering them from beneath the seabed in the trials.
