摘要

We altered the precipitate morphology by heattreatment of Ir-Nb alloys. The alloy strength depended on theprecipitate morphology. When cuboidal precipitates werelocalized in rows along the <001> cube directions, the strengthwas lower than that of samples with cuboidal precipitatesdistributed uniformly, because of large, wide fcc channels. Whenplate-like or needle-like fcc phases were formed in cuboidal L1sub 2 precipitates, there was no large difference in the strengthfrom that of samples with uniformly distributed cuboidalprecipitates. This shows that Ir-Nb alloys deform by the bypass mechanism.
