The Joint Oceanographic Institutions (JOI) has selected the team of Texas A&M University (TAMU) and Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory of Columbia University as a partner in its efforts to operate a scientific ocean drilling vessel for the United States during the Integrated Ocean Drilling Program (IODP). JOI and TAMU/Lamont plan on submitting a proposal for operating the vessel to the National Science Foundation (NSF).
