摘要

National Research Centre for Cashew, Puttur organized a "Cashew Day" on 24.2.2005. This programme was organized at both the campuses (Kemminje and Shanthigodu) of NRCC, Puttur. The theme of the programme was "Increasing Profitability in Cashew Gardens". The theme was selected to focus on increasing profitability in cashew gardens through irrigation, intercropping, high density orcharding, canopy management and by maintaining optimum plant population through effective management of attack of CSRB. More than 175 farmers participated. Earlier, farmers of cashew demonstration plots of NRCC, Puttur, farmers who lifted cashew grafts from the centre for cultivation during 2004 planting season, cashew growing beneficiaries of Sri Kshitra Dharmasthala RuralDevelopment Project (SKDRDP), Puttur, Bharatiya Kisan Sangh and Samrudhi were invited by giving wider publicity through AIR, newspapers and through personal contact.
